 Happy Sextilis* on Sunday everyone…

This weekend we get a big break in the heat wave with highs in the low 80’s. Low wind and afternoon hightide will make some great (although crowded) wakeboarding. I know Keith is in, Joyce is also down with Kristen in tow.

WELCOME HOME ALI!!! Everyone’s favorite cousin has come back to us after spendig the first half of her summer working and living with her sister Lise in New Orleans. OF COURSE a clubhouse party in her honor is a must. It was scheduled for Friday night, but a babysitting gig may have pushed it back one day? Ali, sound off in comments…

Last weekend saw the unannounced return of Avalon’s prodigal son. Am I the only one that saw him? If a wave crashes on the shore and ESK is the only witness, did it really happen? The real Question is:

ESK has Monday off this week, who is around for a MONSTER Sunday Funday and some beach time on Monday (weather permitting, due to scattered T-storms)?

*Originally named Sextilis in Latin, because it was the sixth month in the original ten-month Roman calendar, this Sunday is August 1st. Those who view summer as a time frame may see the eighth month as the beginning of the end of summer. I say rejoice, embrace and celebrate Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus, the first ruler of the Roman Empire, even harder:

  • August 5, International Beer Day, a holiday in celebration of beer.
  • August 21, 1959, Hawaii became the 50th state of the United States of America.
  • In the United States, August is National Goat Cheese Month.
  • American Adventures Month
  • Audio Appreciation Month
  • Happiness Happens Month
  • Panini Month
  • What Will Be Your Legacy? Month

Models and Bottles, ESK

Song of the week (notice an obvious shot of Avalon at the 0:10 mark):

“And I hope someday I find a place where summer never ends

And I’m going where the summer never ends”

– G. Love, Front Porch Lounger

  1. No way Palmer will be here twice.
Ali here and weather is perf.
Off to VA this weekend….yet missing AV.

  2. I only voted for the 25% box because there wasn’t a 3% box. but that would be my vote. Palmer, I love you dearly, but I’ve seen you once this summer and it was in the middle of pennsylvania. On THAT hypocritical note, I’ll be kayaking down the delaware this weekend… in pennsylvania.

  3. Greetings finally from Avalon! I am babysitting Friday but should be finished early enough for a clubhouse party. Free all Saturday night though if that seems like a better night. Good to be back 🙂

  4. Sage and Betsy, I am sorry to miss you this weekend but have fun in VA and PA. SO pumped to be able to be in Avalon this weekend, thanks to the lovely Joyce Polsenberg and Keith Helwig! Tommy, I love the blog, it is awesome, keep it going and I can’t wait to see everyone who will be there this weekend, it would be great if that included PALMER!!!!!!!!!!!! Wishful thinking huh?

  5. Blog looks great! Erik and I are missing the beach, but enjoying the nice mild summer out here in Seattle! Lots of pool time (less sand, more kids) and playing in the woods. Poor west coast kids missing out on the REAL summer time!

  6. Tomasa, this is amazing. I love the picture of Teddy and song of the day. Good on ya! Welcome home Ali! See you in the clubhouse!

  7. Hello new homepage! Google who? I also voted 25%.

  8. While I too witnessed John Palmer last weekend, it was for approximately 30 seconds in the clubhouse. We were sitting there enjoying the 105 degree weather in the shade of the clubhouse when the man arrived in flyers-themed short-shorts and little else, then informed us he was leaving. I don’t know if that even counts as being on the island…..

I will be missing Avalon very much this weekend and next 😦 Welcome home Ali!
